Mayfield Heights is a city in Cuyahoga County in the US state of Ohio . It is 12 miles east of Cleveland . The area of today's municipality was first developed by settlers around 1805. The first school, which also served as a meeting hall and church, was built just eleven years later, in 1816. In 1925 the community had 1500 inhabitants. Mayfield Heights was named " City " on July 2, 1951 . Chemical company Ferro is headquartered in Mayfield Heights. The population was estimated at 18,682 in 2017.
