The Mayo Peak is a 300 m high mountain with a flattened summit in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . On the Bear Peninsula on the Walgreen Coast , it forms the southern end of the Jones Bluffs .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1977 after Elbert A. Mayo Jr. of the US Navy, flight engineer of an LC 130 Hercules in five campaigns of Operation Deep Freeze .
