Mayu Sakai

Mayu Sakai ( Japanese 酒井 ま ゆ , Sakai Mayu ; born January 7, 1982 in Fussa , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka . Her works can be assigned to the Shōjo genre. She made her debut in 2000 with Primal Orange in the Ribon Original.

After graduating from school, Mayu Sakai started working as a mangaka straight away. Her first work, Primal Orange , won an award in October 2000. She was 18 years old at the time. Some time later, she was hired for Shueisha's Ribon , after already working there as an assistant at Miho Obana . Her first two official mangas ( Bokutachi no Tabi , 2001; Nine Puzzle , 2002) were less well known. That changed in 2003 with Nagatachō Strawberry . In 2005 she worked on Peter Pan Syndrome , and in 2006 her most successful manga to date was Rockin 'Heaven . From 2008 to 2011 she worked on the series Momo - little Devil . She has been working on Sugar Soldier since 2011 , which is also her longest run to date.
