Mazel (comic book writer)

Mazel , real name Luc Maezelle (born June 27, 1931 in Herentals , Belgium ) is a Belgian comic author and cartoonist.

Life

As a child, Mazel wanted to draw comics. Despite his talent, he began studying architecture at the Saint-Luc Institute. With the help of comic book writer Sirius , Mazel began publishing his first comic book stories in Spirou and TinTin magazines. From 1960 to 1968, several series appeared mainly in TinTin magazine. His comics also appeared in Pilot magazine .

In 1969 Charles Dupuis , the then head of the Dupuis publishing house , which also published the Spirou magazine, offered the permanent position. With Raoul Cauvin he published the series Câline et Calebasse from 1974 to 1992 and the series King and Kong from 1975 to 1987 . With Gérald Frydman he worked on two adventures by Jessie Jane ,

He also worked with Cauvin from 1993 to 2004 on the series Les Paparazzi .

Since 2004 Mazel has devoted himself to painting.
