Formerly a McCormick MC series tractor

McCormick is an Italian tractor brand. The brand, founded in 2001 by the Argo Group, draws on the tradition of the McCormick brand and the indirect predecessor companies McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and International Harvester .

history

The McCormick brand emerged from the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, founded in 1856, which was merged into the successor company International Harvester in 1902, which also continued the brand. After International Harvesting sold the agricultural division to Tenneco's case division in 1985 , the McCormick brand was discontinued. Production of the CX series began in 1997 at the Case plant in Doncaster, followed by the Maxxum MXC series the next year. One of the conditions imposed by the EU regulator in the 1999 merger of Case with New Holland to form CNH Global was the sale of the Doncaster plant. In 2000 the Italian Argo Group took over the plant and the trademark rights to McCormick. In addition to the Doncaster plant, the C, CX and MXC tractor series and the MX Maxxum series produced there were also taken over. McCormick Tractors International Limited started business in January 2001. In the same year, the Argo Group acquired another plant in Saint-Dizier from CNH Global , which was then expanded into the headquarters of McCormick France and the headquarters for production and sales in France .

In 2002, McCormick GmbH was founded in Haar (near Munich) as a German distributor , and in 2005 moved to the company premises of Fella-Werke (at that time also part of the Argo Group) in Feucht near Nuremberg . The German branch has been operating as Argo GmbH since 2006.

In 2007, the tractor manufacturers Landini , McCormick and Valpadana were integrated into Argo Tractors SpA , which was founded in the previous year , and have only been the company's brands since then. The Doncaster plant was closed at the end of the year, and tractors of the three brands have been produced in Italy since then.
