Medal bene merenti (Romania)
The medal bene merenti was founded in 1876 by Prince Carol I of Romania and awarded as a reward for services to science and art in two classes ( gold and silver ).
The medal is a round medal with the words BENE MERENTI on the front, surrounded by an oak wreath . On the back there is the portrait of the founder and therefore the inscription CAROLUS I REX ROMANIA .
The award was worn on a ponceau red ribbon with two silver border stripes on the left side of the chest.
