The medal for merits at the Central Youth Object FDJ-Initiative Berlin was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which by ordinance of September 18, 1984 with effect from January 1, 1985 by the Council of Ministers of the GDR through its chairman Willi Stoph in three Stages, bronze , silver and gold , was donated.

Award terms

The medal was awarded in recognition and appreciation of several years of meritorious work by the delegates of the "FDJ-Initiative Berlin" and by workers of the combines and companies from the districts in the development of East Berlin , the capital of the GDR. The first awards took place in 1985. The medal could be awarded to:

  • Members of the Free German Youth (FDJ) who were delegated by the district organizations to the central youth object "FDJ-Initiative Berlin",
  • Working people who are members of companies
    • of construction,
    • the industry,
    • the energy industry,
    • of transport,
    • water management and
    • of postal and telecommunications

from the districts were deployed on the construction and investment projects in Berlin as part of the tasks assigned to these companies.

Graduation

  • in bronze: after two years of uninterrupted service plus a 500 mark bonus
  • in silver: after four years of uninterrupted service plus a bonus of 750 marks
  • in gold: after six years of uninterrupted service plus a 1,000 mark bonus

When it was first awarded, the medal was awarded according to the duration of uninterrupted activity at the highest level. The prerequisite for this was that the entrusted person had completed the service hours of the respective level before January 1, 1985. Uninterrupted service time was considered to be work in one or more Berlin deployment companies on the basis of a delegation contract or on construction or assembly sites in Berlin.

If FDJ members concluded employment contracts with the deployment companies, the time to achieve the next higher medal level was counted as uninterrupted working time. This proof of the achievement of the uninterrupted working hours was to be recorded in the personnel file of the person to be awarded.

Proposal authorization

The proposals, which should lead to the award of the medal, were to be submitted to the responsible minister for construction by the directors of the Berlin deployment companies and the construction and assembly companies from the districts via the general directorates or heads of the higher-level bodies. The proposals were to be submitted in agreement with the FDJ management and the union management.
