Medard Czobot

Medard Czobot ( lit.Medardas Čobotas ; born May 26, 1928 in Medininkai , Vilnius Rajongemeinde , † August 30, 2009 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian doctor and politician . He belonged to the Polish minority in Lithuania .

Life

From 1946 to 1950 he worked in pharmacy No. 6 as an assistant in Vilnius . In 1956 he studied medicine at the Vilniaus universitetas and from 1956 to 1960 he worked at the Vilnius District Policlinic, from 1960 as a research assistant and deputy director at the Institute for Experimental and Clinical Medicine . In 1964 he received his doctorate in medicine. From 1990 to 1996 he was a member of the Seimas , selected in 1992 in the constituency of Naujamiestis as a member of Lietuvos krikščionių Demokratieų partija . From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the Vilnius City Council. He worked as the senior gerontologist at the Ministry of Health of Lithuania and was president of the Lithuanian Association of Gerontologists and Geriatrists .

From June 1995 he was rector of the Trečiojo amžiaus universitetas (TAU).

His grave is in the Antakalnis cemetery .
