The Kaunas College of Medicine is a faculty of medicine of the Kaunas College , the former Kaunas Higher School of Medicine.

history

In 1920, Professor of Medicine at Pranas Mažylis in Kaunas founded short-term courses for obstetricians and two-year courses for Sisters of Charity of the Lithuanian Red Cross. In 1932 the School for Sisters of Charity and State School for Obstetricians were founded. 765 midwives were prepared by 1940 and a total of 630 merciful sisters from 1920 to 1941. The School for Nurses Kaunas was founded in 1941 and the Republic School for Obstetricians- Midwives and the School for Nurses from 1946–1951 . From 1958 to 1962 there were departments for face-to-face, evening and distance learning.

The Republic Medical School Kaunas was reorganized from both schools in 1958. In 1971 the name was given by P. Mažylis. In 1991 she became a member of the Kaunas Higher Medical School . In 1994 the most modern Lithuanian dental technology laboratory was founded. It has belonged to the Kaunas College since 2001. First there was a Center for the Study of Medicine and Social Sciences and, from 2007, a Faculty of Health Care. It has been a medical faculty since 2012.
