The Medway River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .

It has its origins in the small lake Alma Lake in northern Annapolis County . From there it flows in a predominantly south-easterly direction through Queens County in the south of the Nova Scotia peninsula . There are several lakes along its course. The Ponhook Lake divided the river into an upper and a lower reaches. The Pleasant River drains Molega Lake to the north and flows into the Medway River on the left above Ponhook Lake. The approximately 80 km long Medway River continues its course to the southeast and finally flows into Medway Harbor , a bay on the east coast of Nova Scotia. The catchment area covers 1400 km². Places on the river are Greenfield and Charleston .

The Medway River was previously used for rafting . The Atlantic salmon used to be abundant in the river system. Due to the acidification of the water, their number has fallen sharply. Measures have been taken recently to reintroduce migratory fish to the Medway River.
