Annapolis County is a county in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia (Nova Scotia). It is in the west of the province, the administrative seat is Annapolis Royal . In the northeast of the county is the Bay of Fundy . To the northeast it is bordered by Kings County and to the southwest by Digby County , while to the southeast is Lunenburg County and to the south is the Region of Queens Municipality . In the south of the county there is also part of the Kejimkujik National Park .
The administrative unit with an area of 3,188.48 km² had 20,756 inhabitants in 2011 with a population density of 6.5 inhabitants / km². The population decreased by 3.2%.
The county is connected to the rest of the road network via the Nova Scotia Highway 101 and to the air traffic via the Digby-Annapolis Regional Airport , south of Digby .
history
Annapolis County was founded on August 17, 1759 and named after Annapolis Royal. Proposals for the division of the county that became known in 1833 led to the separation of Digby County in 1837 .
Communities
Annapolis County includes the towns of Annapolis Royal , Bridgetown and Middleton as well as the Bear River 6 and Bear River 6B Indian reservations. All other settlements are part of the Municipality of the County of Annapolis , which does not have its own administration.
