Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) is an amalgamation of several cities in the province of Nova Scotia in Canada to form an administrative unit and includes part of Cape Breton Island .
The administrative unit, which currently has around 97,000 inhabitants, was passed on August 1, 1995 in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality Act and is now the second largest in the province after the Halifax Regional Municipality . In 2006 there were 4,670 (i.e., approximately 4.6%) residents of North American Indians .
