Meeno Schrader

Meeno Schrader (born May 30, 1961 in Leer (Ostfriesland) , Germany ) is a German television presenter and entrepreneur in the field of meteorology . He is a passionate sailor and has a doctorate in meteorology as well as the founder and managing director of the consulting companies WetterWelt GmbH and meteolytix GmbH.

Life

Meeno Schrader discovered his passion for sailing at an early age. He developed this passion into his hobby in his youth and later into his profession as a cruising and regatta sailor. In the 1980s he was able to successfully distinguish himself as a regatta sailor. His greatest successes are winning the amateur world championship in the 3/4 tonner class and third place in the world sailing championship for professionals in this class.

After completing his studies and doctorate in meteorology, he founded WetterWelt GmbH in March 1999, based in Kiel . This specializes in meteorological consulting services. These include, among other things, economic weather forecasts, regatta and cruise advice as well as extensive global advice to commercial shipping. His first groundbreaking reputation in the regatta area earned him, among other things, the meteorological on-site advice of the German Admiral's Cup team off Cowes and the successful advice of the British circumnavigator Ellen MacArthur over 5 years. He was also a consultant for the German America's Cup team United Internet Team Germany in 2006 and 2007 in Valencia, Spain. Even before founding the company, while still studying, he worked for the German Olympic sailing team in Pussan (South Korea) in 1988. This was followed by simultaneous consultations by several international teams such as Germany. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, he worked for Germany, Singapore, Denmark, Poland and parts of the US team. After China, London and Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo 2020 is its sixth Olympic campaign. In 2009 he was co-founder of meteolytix GmbH , which offers weather-dependent sales forecasts for retailers.

Meeno Schrader worked for the media from the beginning (1999) as a weather presenter with unusual formats for the NDR. Since 2002 he has been working as a weather presenter in regional television format , since 2012 also for the NDR radio in the Schleswig-Holstein Magazin of the NDR and Schleswig-Holstein 6pm.

In addition to his activities as a weather presenter, Meeno Schrader also works as an author. Since 2010 he has been writing a weekly weather column for the weekend journal of the Schleswig Holstein newspaper publisher. Since 2014 a monthly column for the magazine Lebensart . He has also written the book Das Wetterbuch für water sports enthusiasts (Delius Klasing Verlag). In addition, he has been working on climate change since his studies, on which he gives very committed lectures as a guest speaker. Meeno Schrader lives with his family in Kiel.
