Mees Bakker (born March 11, 2001 in Heiloo ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper . He has been with AZ Alkmaar since his youth and is part of the Dutch national youth team.

Career

Mees Bakker began playing football at HSV Heiloo , a club from the 2.5 km of Alkmaar nearby the North Holland village of Heiloo . During his childhood he moved to the AZ Alkmaar football school and made his debut in the second team on August 20, 2018 in a 3-2 defeat in the home game in the Dutch second division against Almere City FC . Until the season was interrupted as a result of the Corona crisis during the second half of the 2019/20 season, Mees Bakker, who continued to play for the youth teams, made three league appearances for the reserve team from Alkmaar Zaanstreek .

National team

During 2016, Mees Bakker played two friendly games for the Netherlands U15. In the following period he played six times for the U16 team until 2017 and took part with the U17 in the European Championship finals in 2018 , which ended with the title win. Bakker played his only game in the tournament in the last group game, which was also his last of four games due to age. After playing three games for the Dutch U18 national team in 2018, Bakker is currently taking part in qualifying for the Euro 2020 in Northern Ireland with the Dutch U19 national team.
