Meg Randall

Meg Randall (born August 1, 1926 in Clinton , Oklahoma as Genevieve Roberts , † July 20, 2018 ) was an American actress . She became famous in 1949 for a supporting role in the film noir Daring Alibi .

Life

Genevieve Roberts was born the third of five children to mechanic Charles Patrick Roberts and teacher Winnie McMillin. She grew up in Seminole , where she had moved with her family in 1930. In 1941 the family moved again, this time to Muskogee , where Roberts graduated from the local high school in 1943. She then studied for a year at the University of Oklahoma .

After graduating from college, Roberts moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a film actress. She hired a talent agent who put her in touch with United Artists , Paramount Pictures and the actress Mary Pickford . Both studios offered Roberts contracts, which instead began her career at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . In 1948 she moved to Universal Studios and at the same time changed her name to Meg Randall .

Meg Randalls played her first role in 1947, still under her real name, in the comedy Undercover Maisie . She achieved her breakthrough two years later in the role of Helen in the film noir Daring Alibi at the side of Burt Lancaster and Yvonne De Carlo . In her 14-year career, Randall has appeared in almost 20 films and television series. In 1961 she ended her career with an appearance in the crime series Surfside 6

Meg Randall died on July 20, 2018, 12 days before her 92nd birthday.
