Mega Bosch is a German end time - rock band from the room Hannover , which was founded in 2009.

Initially founded as a pure fun project for end-of-time LARP events, the band attracted more attention when they performed at the Wacken Open Air in 2013 and 2014 on a stage specially constructed for them. The construction of rusty shipping containers in the post-apocalyptic style, suitable for films like Mad Max or Waterworld , and large gas fire installations were striking. The stage is now the official Wacken stage (Wasteland Stage).

history

Real world

2009 to 2010

MegaBosch appeared for the first time in 2009 at FATE III, an end-of-time LARP campaign by Lost-Ideas. At that time MegaBosch only consisted of General PAUSE and General MIDI.
In 2010 the music video for "Es ist Geil" was created. The scenes were filmed on the site of the former Soviet military training area near Mahlwinkel. The release consolidated the band's status within the German end-of-time scene.

2011 to 2012

In 2011 MegaBosch was expanded into a full band. In Sergeant PEPPER they found a bass player who both musically fit into the band and was a passionate live role player. The position of drummer remained vacant for a while. In the transition period, the band played with a so-called "drum machine" - "... a kind of oversized music box made from old barrels, electric motors and lots of junk." At the end of the year, Private PARTS completed the band on drums.

The first public appearance outside the LARP was finally in May 2012 at the Role Play Convention in Cologne, the largest role-playing fair in Europe. Both the concept and the music were so well received by the audience and the organizers that MegaBosch was subsequently booked for the Wacken Open Air 2013, for which a stage specially designed for the band and matching the setting was to be built.

2013 to 2015

For example, at the Wacken Open Air in 2013, the Wasteland Stage was built for the first time from old ship containers and rusty steel on the grounds of the Wackinger Village. During their appearances, MegaBosch was supported by Henry Hot's fire installations instead of a normal light show. In addition, the showmen of the Wasteland Warriors enlivened the end times area. Since MegaBosch were almost unknown outside of the live role-playing scene at that time, the organizer had decided to let the band play as much as possible in order to win over new audiences. Several short teasers were planned during the day and longer concerts in the evening. At the end of the festival MegaBosch had played 13 gigs and at the final concert the place in front of the Wasteland Stage was filled with many thousands of people.

Since MegaBosch had not yet released a CD, the band produced their EP 2000 Watt on their own (700 copies sold) for the appearances at the Wacken Open Air 2013 . Further video publications with material from Wacken 2013 followed ( Welcome to Paradise City and Hammerfist-LIVE ).

The response from the audience to W: O: A 2013 was so good that the entire concept of the Wasteland area was continued in 2014 and 2015. The production of MegaBosch's debut CD with the renowned producer Tommy Newton and other end-of-time live role -playing games have been announced for 2016 .

Fictional world

General background

The fictional setting of the end-of-time LARPs, for which MegaBosch was founded, roughly adheres to genre templates such as Mad Max or Fallout . Although there is no generally accepted background from all LARP players that led to the game-relevant end-time scenario, there are guidelines that all players adhere to.

The generally accepted gamble is that the earth suffered a major catastrophe sometime between the 1930s and 1980s, which resulted in most of humanity being wiped out. While the catastrophe ("the big bang" or "the big fire") is not exactly titled, its effects in the game in the form of radioactive radiation and a decadent shortage society are presented in a more differentiated manner. Tension is created, among other things, by the fact that different factions fight for their own survival or that of the group in a hostile world. The game year is about 150 years after the disaster.

Fictional biography of the band

The eschatological setting is also the basis for MegaBosch's short biography. According to this, the band was founded with the idea of bringing rock music back to the post-apocalyptic world. Instead, as self-proclaimed "rock stars of the apocalypse", they roam the wasteland in a wave of decadence and licentiousness.

The so-called "MegaMog" (a 71 Unimog that is completely rusted from the outside ), which they have with them at many events, serves as their tour vehicle .

style

For their plan to bring rock music back to mankind, MegaBosch makes use of the clichés from the world of well-known rock stars, theatrically and with many grand gestures. It serves as a red thread and can be found in all the details of this band - appearance, costumes, music, texts, interviews, dealing with fans, whether live or on media platforms.

optics

The post-apocalyptic style to which MegaBosch are committed is commonly referred to as "retrocalypse". Based on the idea that the earth suffered a catastrophe of apocalyptic proportions sometime between the 1930s and 1980s, the fragments from which the survivors build their "New World" are of course old and out of fashion from our perspective today. Accordingly - although the setting is in the future from today's point of view - no futuristic elements are used, but only old things that are trimmed to very old and tinkered together.

In addition to the band, dancers, strippers and burlesque artists often perform at concerts.

music

MegaBosch describe their music with the umbrella term "hard, cool rock music". The basic approach of the "retrocalypse" is also largely reflected in music. You see them as a kind of patchwork quilt of various musical styles that have survived "the big bang". Her repertoire includes influences from hard rock, classic heavy metal, swing, punk, country rock, blues, rock 'n' roll, funk, Latin and electro.

The band often improvises live as an intro for their concerts or as background music to a strip. In addition, there are sometimes longer guitar or drum solo escapades at MegaBosch concerts.

Texts

MegaBosch's texts reflect her life in a post-apocalyptic world. The lyrics are German and deal with drugs, sex, violence and licentiousness, sometimes bitterly angry, but also with a wink and exaggerated to the limit of caricature. Often it is about celebrating the big party despite the adverse external circumstances.
