Meginward
Meginward of Freising († April 28, 1098 ; also Meinward , Megenhard ) was the 20th bishop of Freising from 1078 to 1098 .
Meginward from the dynasty of the Counts of Scheyern had to assert himself militarily against the opposing bishop Hermann von Eppenstein as part of the Pope's party in the investiture dispute since 1086 and was supported by the Bavarian Duke Welf I , who was loyal to the Pope . As a bishop, Meginward successfully carried out Christian proselytizing in Bohemia .
