Anhalt milestone at Bründel

The milestone near Bründel is a small monument in the municipality of Plötzkau in the Salzland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

North of Bründel there is a 101 centimeter high round base stone with two inscriptions. One is VII miles from Dessau , the other 50 kilometers from Dessau . The shape and inscription prove that it is a lasting milestone . Since seven Anhalt miles correspond to 52.7 kilometers and the second inscription is only painted on, one can assume that the stone originally stood a little further to the west.

However, an exact assessment can only be found with a remeasurement of the old course of the road. This is made more difficult by the fact that the previous VI mile stone, probably the milestone in the north of Bernburg , as the road had to lead to Bernburg due to the Saale , is also in an unsafe position. In addition, the stone was moved in 2000 as part of road straightening measures.

Apparently this street, today Landesstraße 65 , already joined the old east-west connection of Anhalt in Bernburg, because this then leads via Köthen to Dessau. The milestone in Kleinpaschleben is located on this route with the information I mile from Köthen and IV miles from Dessau , as well as 10 kilometers. from Koethen . It is not known whether the milestone at Bründel contained a similar statement regarding Bernburg. The distance indicator is a listed building and is the only monument in Bründel in the list of monuments. It has the registration number 094 97968.
