The Lukas Meindl GmbH & Co.KG is a German manufacturer of footwear, especially hiking and mountain boots of the brand Meindl , based in the Bavarian Kirchanschöring , Traunstein district . The family business , founded in Kirchanschöring in 1928 on the basis of a tradition of shoemakers of the Meindl family that has been going on since 1683, is run by the brothers Lars and Lukas Meindl in the ninth generation.

history

The shoemaker Petrus Meindl was first mentioned in a document in Kirchanschöring in 1683. Since then, a Meindl has always been practicing the shoemaking trade in the town. The family business, founded in 1928 by Lukas Meindl senior in the seventh generation, is now managed by Lars and Lukas Meindl, Alfons Meindl's sons , and is still based in Kirchanschöring to this day.

The sale of the shoes for the end consumer takes place exclusively through the specialized trade. In 2000 the company had 400 employees in Germany and 160 employees in Hungary. Further production facilities are located in Slovenia and Italy. In addition, the Magic Group's sports and leisure shoes are manufactured in the Far East. Sales in 1999 amounted to just over 100 million DM. In 2012, the construction of a new logistics center began.

Products

The product range extends from sandals and trekking shoes to special models that are suitable for ice climbing . In addition, low shoes and brogue shoes are made that go with regional Bavarian costumes . The Stratos model was made for Felix Baumgartner's jump from 39 kilometers in 2012 . Meindl, together with other German shoe manufacturers of special boots, produces the new combat boots for the Bundeswehr and special police units, such as the Desert Fox , which British soldiers wear on missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Individual shoe models such as Iceland have been produced for over 20 years and are continuously improved through innovations that have brought the company prices for outdoor products.
