Alfons Meindl

Alfons Meindl (born September 12, 1929 in Kirchanschöring ; † September 13, 2006 ) was a German entrepreneur. For many years he was the head of the Meindl shoe company .

Life

Meindl was born as the son of the shoemaker Lukas Meindl, who laid the foundation stone for the company of the same name in its current form in 1928 . After graduating from high school, he joined the family business in 1948 and initially worked as a sales manager. When his father died in 1974, he and his brother Hannes took over the management of the company. Both continued specializing in ski and mountain boots and developed the company into a global market provider in this segment. In 2006, the company's shoes were exported to 35 countries. Around 200 people were employed at the Kirchanschöring site alone. The company has received several awards for innovative products and ecological production methods.

Meindl was also involved in local politics in his home community of Kirchanschöring. From 1972 to 2002 he was a member of the local council as a member of the CSU . From October 1985 to April 2002 he also held a mandate in the district council of the Traunstein district . In the social field, he created the Kirchanschöringer Social Fund, an aid fund for those in need from the community.

After his death, the management of the family business was passed on to his sons Lars and Lukas in the eleventh generation.
