My love is a Russian oil-on-glass animation - short film by Alexander Petrov from 2006. It is based on the history История любовная of Ivan Shmelev .

action

15-year-old Anton has to study for exams. When he reads Anton Chekhov's About Love , he discovers love for himself. He innocently loves the family maid, Pasha, but sees his ideal in the black-haired, always brilliant ten years older neighbor Serafina, whom he worships as a “goddess”. One day he writes a poetic letter to Serafina and they meet in the garden that night. The woman kisses Anton, but then backs away from him. Pasha, in turn, is supposed to marry the servant Stepan on the instructions of her aunt, even if she feels bound to Anton. She still gets involved with Stepan when she sees Anton kiss the neighbor. So far, love has only been viewed as an ideal construct of veneration. When he catches Pasha and Stepan together in the stable, he insults both of them as perverts. Pasha renounces him and calls the neighbor a whore.

One night, a cattle keeper's stable goes up in flames as a result of a relationship argument. The next day, when Stepan tries to catch the bull that has run away from the stable, he is attacked and killed by the bull. Pasha has a breakdown. Anton receives a letter from Serafina in which she arranges to meet him in the church. Both go into nature to a lake where Serafina begins to undress Anton. He finally wants to see Serafina's eyes and she takes off her glasses - her face is completely disfigured and Anton is horrified. He falls into a state of shock from which he is slow to recover. When he has recovered, he learns that Pasha has gone to a monastery and he now mourns for his first, purest love.
