Meinhard's parents were Count Meinhard I. von Görz and Elisabeth von Schwarzenburg . Meinhard received the offices and honors of a margrave of Istria and a bailiff of Parenzo . Meinhard's older brother Engelbert II was also the Margrave of Istria.
From his three marriages with Kunigunde von Peilstein , Adelheid von Ballenstedt (from the house of the Askanians ) and N. von Tirol (from the house of the Counts of Tyrol ) no information about a possible offspring is certain.
