The Communitas Agnus Dei ( German  community of lamb of God ) is a Christian- Catholic community . The community has its headquarters in Frauenberg Monastery , which is provided by the owner free of charge. It was launched in 1980. It maintains other small communities, known as foundations, in Ecuador and the Congo .

history

Herbert Grundberger, the founder of the community, came into contact with self-awareness groups, Buddhism and esotericism after studying ethnology . In 1977 he said he had an encounter with Jesus Christ in search of the meaning of life . He entered the Catholic Church in 1980 and gathered interested people around him. On April 24, 1980, "Brother Elijah", as he called himself, founded the "Communitas Agnus Dei" with like-minded Catholic people. With the appeal to his divine encounter, he sees himself as a herald who represents the community.

In 1985 the community consisted of 12 adults and 5 children. Another house was built, which was inaugurated in 1987. Since 1987 the community has another house in Eupen ( Belgium ), and in 1995 a communication center was opened in Breinig near Aachen , which has since been closed again; For a long time it was the seat of the “Jemael-International” association. Finally, in 1997, a branch was established in Ecuador.

Lack of church recognition

The community still lacks a license to practice medicine from the Archbishop of Freiburg . In 1994 the auxiliary bishop in Freiburg im Breisgau , Paul Wehrle , declared that the community had not been given the status of a church community. The examination process in the archbishop's office has been pending again since 1997, and a decision is still pending.

Life in the community

Around 24 adults and a few, now adult children, live in the community today. The majority of the former 27 children now live outside. Almost all community members work on the farm and in the monastery, otherwise the community lives on donations , child benefits and the sale of CDs and books. Besides, according to self-testimony, they trust in Providence . There is almost no privacy .

Guiding principle

The community strives for an ecological life and takes into account a creation-based approach to the earth . Their spirituality is based on charity and a spiritual life for inner purification in the sense of the Catholic faith. She wants to adhere to these values by cultivating according to biological principles. Silence and contemplative prayer have an important place . The community knows a consecration-like "promise to Maria" based on Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort . The Christian community Agnus Dei emphasizes that membership requires thorough examination in order to be clear about whether one sees the right path for oneself in life in this Christian, order-like community. A promise is made upon entry. Members undertake to obey the Ten Commandments and receive the rights to spiritual and theological training. Communitas Agnus Dei is strongly against abortion . She respects and supports the teachings of the Pope .

organization

There are some leaders in the community. To this end, joint decisions are made through what is known as "tracing". If no consensus can be found, the management team takes the decision. The community has no common property , its property includes technical aids (television, video recorder, radio, agricultural machinery, solar energy and cars). The members have no private property.
