Meinrad Mayrhofer

Meinrad Mayrhofer (born December 25, 1958 in Zell am Moos ) is an Austrian sculptor and painter .

Live and act

Mayrhofer attended the Hallstatt Wood School in Hallstatt from 1973 to 1977 and learned how to handle wood, including the technology for making sculptures out of metal. He completed his training in sculpture with Zauner, Thoma and Kienesberger. He has been working as a freelancer since 1978. He lives and works in Pram in the Hausruckviertel and is represented at exhibitions and symposia in Germany and abroad.

Meinrad Mayrhofer's tool is, among other things, the chainsaw with which he creates large sculptures. Other areas of his artistic work are pen drawings, cartoons, art in construction , as well as the planning and implementation of artistically designed playgrounds .

Memberships

Mayrhofer is a member of the Innviertel Artists' Guild and was its chairman from 1999 to 2010. Further memberships exist with the Wüdwux artists' network, Werkstart Haag - Children's Summer Academy and Art from the Edge - workshops with people with special needs. Since 1992 he has been chairman of the Furthmühle Pram cultural association.

Works (selection)

  • Large crib Lignorama in the Lignorama wood museum in Riedau with 5 meter tall figures made of silver fir (2005). These are the largest wooden nativity figures in the world.
  • Colorful stones according to Adalbert Stifter , made in a four-week studio stay in Krumau (2007)
  • Light object in the entrance hall of the hospital in Schärding
