The master of the Altötting doors (active around 1515–1520 in Altötting ) was a Bavarian carver of the late Middle Ages . It got its emergency name from the artfully carved portals of the collegiate church St. Philipp and Jakob in Altötting. The south portal shows the birth of Christ and the adoration of the Magi. On the north portal Mary and Ursula, the two church patrons Philip and James, two cycles of prophets and church fathers as well as a multitude of allegories on the virginity of the Mother of God are depicted.

According to the Holy Kinship relief in the Anna Chapel in Neuötting, the master took his artistic starting point from the Landshut sculptor Hans Leinberger , but developed his own style, insofar as the attributed works actually come from a workshop; This can be seen most clearly at the so-called Salmannskirchener Altar of the Freising Diocesan Museum, where two supple Johannes figures in the successor of Hans Leinberger flank a Salvator, whose finely structured robe shows hard metal folds. A repeatedly proposed identification with the carver Matthäus Kriniß can probably not be maintained, since Kriniß acquired citizenship in Mühldorf as an independent master as early as 1511, which cannot be reconciled with the meeting with Hans Leinberger.
