Master of Uttenheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Gothic painter from the mid-15th century is referred to as the master of Uttenheim (also master of the Uttenheim panel ). The artist, who is not known by name, was active in Brixen in South Tyrol and received his emergency name from his main work, a panel of a Marian altar that has been preserved from the parish church in Uttenheim . The work is now in the Austrian Belvedere Gallery in Vienna .

style

The master of Uttenheim is influenced by the view of details and the search for new perspective representation, as it had developed before his time in Dutch painting. He also shows Italian influences. It is believed that he worked with another well-known painter in Tyrol, Michael Pacher . However, the form of cooperation has not yet been clarified. He probably met him late.
