Melanie Webelhorst-Zimmermann (born September 15, 1895 in Langnau , Canton Bern , † after 1956) was a Swiss actress and voice actress .

Life

After graduating from high school, Melanie Webelhorst-Zimmermann attended the drama school of the German Theater Berlin between 1910 and 1912 and at the same time took private acting lessons from Berthold Held. In 1912 she made her stage debut at the Deutsches Theater as "Homunculus" in Goethe's Faust II , to whose ensemble she belonged until 1914. Her other theater stations included u. a. the Münchner Kammerspiele , the Münchner Volkstheater and the Stadttheater Hof. In her long stage career, Webelhorst-Zimmermann embodied a wide variety of roles, from youthful character subjects to motherhood roles. She played Heinrich von Kleist's " Käthchen von Heilbronn " (Rosetheater Berlin), "Ophelia" in Shakespeare's Hamlet (Rosetheater Berlin), "Berta" in August Strindbergs Kameraden (Münchner Kammerspiele) and "Tituba" in Arthur Miller's witch hunt (Kammerspiele ).

Since the late 30s she has also worked in feature film productions. She played in Georg Jacoby's comedy Spiel auf der Tenne , the Ganghofer film adaptation of Der Geigenmacher von Mittenwald , Joe Stöckel's adaptation of the folk comedy The Bartered Grandfather and several comedies about the Bavarian folk actors Stöckel and Beppo Brem ( The three village saints , The village monarch , The happy pilgrimage ). She mostly played the role of the resolute, simple woman from the country.

In addition, Webelhorst-Zimmermann worked extensively as a radio speaker. She spoke for radio plays and moderated children's and school radio programs. She also wrote 18 radio plays in the series Märchen für alle for the Reichsender München . In addition, she was also active as a voice actress.

Melanie Webelhorst-Zimmermann was last mentioned in Kürschner's biographical theater manual in 1956. After that, there was no more documentation about her.
