Melanohalea exasperatula (synonyms: Melanelia exasperatula , Parmelia exasperatula ( Basionym )) is a leaf lichen from the family of Parmeliaceae that iscommon in Central Europe andgrows on tree bark.
description
The thallus is brown to olive-brown on the top (moist olive-green), but clearly lighter on the underside (beige to pink-brown). The diameter of the rosette bed of this comparatively small leaf lichen reaches a maximum of 4 cm. Characteristic are the sometimes densely packed, shiny isidia , which are thickened or flattened in the shape of a club at the ends. Apothecia are rare (then brown).
distribution
The species is found from the Boreal Zone to the Mediterranean . It thrives mainly on the bark of free-standing deciduous trees or conifers (also on branches of the crown region), often also on fruit trees.
