Inland navigation reporting and information system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The inland shipping reporting and information system (MIB) was created to provide the rescue services and the authorities responsible for hazard prevention with relevant information in the event of a ship accident . The MIB extends on the Rhine from Basel to Rotterdam and the Untermain . Certain inland vessels and events on the Rhine must be reported to the Federal Waterway Administration. Along the route there are Revierzentralen (RVZ) in Basel ( Port of Switzerland ), Gambsheim (next to the Rheinau-Gambsheim barrage ), Oberwesel ( WSA Bingen ), Duisburg ( WSA Duisburg-Rhein ) and Nijmegen ( Rijkswaterstaat ). They also inform shipping about the condition of the waterways and take calls from shipping - especially emergency calls.
