Melio Bettina
Emilio "Melio" Bettina (born November 18, 1916 in Bridgeport , Connecticut , USA ; † December 20, 1996 in Beacon , New York , USA ) was an American light heavyweight boxer of Italian origin and NYSAC world champion.
amateur
In 1935, Bettina won the Intercity Golden Gloves ; he beat Tony Zale , among others .
professional
On February 3rd in 1939 he won the vacant world title of the former association NYSAC with a technical knockout victory in the ninth round against the American Tiger Jack Fox .
However, he lost it in the same year to Billy Conn over 15 rounds on points by a unanimous decision.
