The Mellebynuten is a mountain in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In the Kirwanveggen it marks the eastern end of the Neumayer steep face .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named it, mapped the mountain based on surveys and aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE, 1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) made between 1958 and 1959 . It is named after Peter Melleby (* 1917), who is responsible for sled dogs at the NBSAE.
