Melvyn Lorenzen (born November 26, 1994 in London ) is a Ugandan football player who is under contract with Karpaty Lviv . He has both German and Ugandan citizenship.

Career

Lorenzen's father comes from Uganda and his mother from Germany. His last name comes from his mother. The father is called Drake Mugisa. After starting out with the youth clubs SpVgg Putlos, Oldenburger SV and Holstein Kiel , he moved to Werder Bremen in the summer of 2013 , where he initially played for the second team in the Regionalliga Nord .

After taking part in the training of the professional team playing in the Bundesliga under coach Robin Dutt several times , the offensive player made his Bundesliga debut on October 5, 2013 in the away game against VfB Stuttgart from the 88th minute. Until then, he had only played five regional league games. Dutt wanted to benefit from Lorenzen's headball strength by substituting . In the home game against Hannover 96 in December 2014 he was part of the starting line-up for the first time and scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 55th minute. With the second team, he rose to the 3rd division at the end of the 2014/15 regional league season .

In the summer of 2017 he moved to ADO Den Haag in the Eredivise . After his contract, which expired in summer 2019, was not renewed, Lorenzen joined the Ukrainian first division club Karpaty Lviv in September 2019 .

National team

Lorenzen made his debut on May 31, 2016 for the Ugandan national soccer team ; his team lost 2-0 to Zimbabwe . However, he emphasized that this should remain his only assignment for the time being, in order to keep further options open, possibly also to play for the German or English national team (country of birth).
