Memo is the debut album by the German rapper Pimf . It was released on June 19, 2015 on the independent label Heart Working Class and is distributed by Groove Attack . The album was released as a standard and Amazon edition, including instrumentals and a t-shirt.

Content and production

The songs on the album are mostly calm, with Pimf rapping a lot about his life.

Most of the album was produced by Marq Figuli, who contributed the beats to seven songs and was also involved in three instrumentals. Alex Austin is responsible for the background music for two pieces and one production each comes from Lucas Mewes and Christoph Nowak. Pimf also worked on three productions himself. There was also support with the intro and Silus & Jamal from the Kassel DJ Zwei50er.

Cover design

The album cover shows Pimf sitting in front of a record shelf, looking down. At the top of the picture are the lettering Pimf and Memo in black and green on beige paper. The look of the cover is reminiscent of early vinyl artworks. This impression is reinforced by the imprint that a record leaves on paper. The artwork was designed by Eric Gerhardy.

Guest Posts

In addition to Pimf, other artists are represented on three songs on the album. The rapper Umse has a guest appearance in the song Small City , while Schlaflos is a collaboration with the rapper Mortis . The rapper Damion Davis can also be heard in slow motion .

“On the one hand, Jonas Kramski looks like a reflective, thoughtful young man for his age, on the other hand you can feel the imperfection of his character in every nook and cranny, which is reflected in the sound. There is always something missing to make a song really perfect. The coming-of-age theme, which runs through the entire album, also has its light and dark sides. He certainly speaks to many young people in a similar situation, but also gives his music a certain inaccessibility, as Jonas doesn't have much to say beyond that. […] Every now and then a good idea comes out when Pimf "sleepless" watches the nights with the NBA and writes texts: Pimf writes a letter to his later self on "Greetings". A "souvenir photo" is not enough, but the sarcastic criticism of the selfie society is degenerating into old camels. [...] "Memo" leaves a solid, but in many places half-baked impression. His debut proves: Pimf is serious about music. "
