The Memorial Hill ( English for memory hill ) is a 35 m high hill on the East Antarctic George V coast . At Cape Denison it rises to the west of a mountain ridge, the north-western end of which is Azimuth Hill .
The Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson named him in the course of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914), presumably in memory of the expedition members Xavier Mertz and Belgrave Ninnis who died on this research trip .
