Menegazzia terebrata is a species of leaf lichen from the Parmeliaceae family , which israrer in Central Europeand mainly grows on tree bark.

description

The rosette round camp ( thallus ) of Menegazzia terebrata reaches up to 10 cm in diameter. It is light gray to bluish gray on top and slightly shiny, and black on the underside. The hollow lobes are 0.5 to 2 mm wide and sometimes brownish at the edges. Rhizines are absent. Characteristic are numerous small, rounded holes (up to 1 mm in diameter) scattered over the surface. Circular sorals can develop around these . Fruit bodies ( apothecia ) are very rare.

Menegazzia terebrata is the only European species of the genus Menegazzia, which is otherwise predominantly found in the southern hemisphere . Their area extends from southern Scandinavia to the montane regions of the sub-Mediterranean region. Overall, it prefers acidic bark in deciduous and mixed forests with high levels of precipitation, especially in montane locations in the Alps; it is otherwise rare in Central Europe.
