The menhir of Chigy (also called menhir of Tazilly ) stands at the place called Bois Billaud southeast of Tazilly on the road D 973 to Bourbon-Lancy on the edge of the Morvan Regional Nature Park in the Nièvre department in France .

The phallic menhir , which was erected more than 4000 years ago, was overturned or fell over over the centuries. At the end of the Bronze Age , the remains of a cremation were deposited under his slightly raised head. The erect menhir is an approximately 3.35 m high granite block measuring 1.2 × 1.0 m at the base , which was recognized by G. de Champeaux in 1882, was then partially buried in a meadow. Its excavation in 1986 showed that it is an authentic 4.5 m long stone, the standing pit of which contained numerous supporting stones, a millstone fragment and a votive ax . The menhir, which shows traces of an attempted splitting, was set up again about 120 meters from its original location. It is one of the menhirs in the west of southern Burgundy in Broye , Couches , Maltat , Monthelon and Saint-Nizier-sur-Arroux .
