Mennan Yapo

Mennan Yapo (* 1966 in Munich ) is a German director , screenwriter , film producer and actor of Turkish descent .

Life

Yapo was born in Munich to Turkish parents . Since 1988 he has worked in various roles in the film sector, initially in assistant positions and in marketing.

Since 1995 he has worked as a screenwriter and producer and occasionally as an actor in supporting roles - in The Bed Book ( Peter Greenaway , 1996) and Good Bye, Lenin! ( Wolfgang Becker , 2003).

In 1998/99 Yapo first appeared as a director. His debut, the short film Framed , was nominated for the German Film Prize and was represented at many national and international festivals.

From 2000 Yapo worked as a director on his first feature film, produced by Tom Tykwer - the thriller Lautlos , which was a success in German cinemas in 2004 and received international acclaim.

In March 2007, Yapo's first Hollywood directorial work was on that film drama Premonition (Premonition) with Sandra Bullock in the lead role, which was a box office success in the US and worldwide over 85 million grossed US dollars.
