The Merano 2000 ski area is located under the Ifinger mountain in the Burggrafenamt on a high plateau above Merano on the Tschögglberg in South Tyrol . It has 45 km of alpine slopes and ranges from 1670 to 2300  m altitude. From Merano the area can be reached directly via the Ifinger cable car from Naif or by a cable car from Falzeben. The ski area mainly covers the municipality of Avelengo , but also touches areas belonging to the municipalities of Schenna and Sarntal .

In summer, the area is used by tourists and locals alike as a hiking and recreational area. The network of trails connects several managed alpine pastures (Waidmannalm, Grüblalm, Kirchsteigeralm), huts - for example Meraner Hütte , Kesselberghütte, Kuhleitenhütte and Mittagerhütte - and easy peaks such as the Großer Mittager ( 2422  m ) and Kleiner Mittager ( 2305  m ). A transition to Hirzer is possible via the Missensteiner Joch ( 2128  m ), and via the Kuhleitenhütte to the Ifinger .

The new mountain roller coaster (Alpinbob) has been in operation since October 2006 . It is the first mountain roller coaster in South Tyrol and the longest in Italy.

The ski area is connected to the Ortler Ski Arena . For the 2018/19 winter season, the former two-seater chairlift has been converted into a six-seater chairlift.
