The Mercedes-Benz M127 is a six-cylinder - petrol engine from Mercedes-Benz with mechanical manifold injection , which was produced from 1958 to 1967.

The M 127 engine was derived from the M-180 carburetor engine and, like it, has a displacement of 2.2 liters . For use in the W113 Cabriolet ("Pagoden SL") it was enlarged to 2.3 liters and equipped with a six-piston injection pump (M 127 II).

properties

Six cylinders in line; Cast iron engine block ; Cylinder head made of cast aluminum ; an overhead camshaft in the cylinder head ( OHC valve timing ); two valves per cylinder; Camshaft drive duplex roller chain, mechanical Bosch intake manifold injection with map control for two parameters by means of copy-milled space cam ("potato"); Crankshaft with four main bearings

M127 (2.2 liter displacement)

Bore and stroke: 80 mm × 72.8 mm; Displacement: 2196 cm³; Compression ratio: 8.7: 1; Two-plunger injection pump with distributors; Maximum output: 115 hp at 4800 rpm (120 hp from August 1959); Maximum torque max: 186 Nm at 3800 / min (189 Nm at 3900 / min from August 1959);

Commitment:

M127 II (2.3 liter displacement)

In 1963, the M127 was drilled out and enhanced for use in the SL sports car. The bore was enlarged by 2 mm to 82 mm; thus the displacement increased from 2196 to 2306 cm³. Technical data of the M127 II motor:

Bore and stroke: 82 mm × 72.8 mm
Displacement: 2306 cm³
Six-piston injection pump
Compression ratio: 9.3: 1
Maximum power: 150 HP at 5500 / min
Maximum torque: 196 Nm at 4200 / min

Use: Mercedes-Benz 230 SL "Pagode" (1963–67)
