The Merkjárfoss is a small waterfall in south of Iceland .
In Fljótshlíð , the Merkjá river plunges 45 m and 76 m downstream by another 8 meters and then flows west into the Þverá . From Hvolsvöllur on the ring road , Fljótshlíðarvegur (road 261) heads east, after 17 km you reach the waterfall. It is also called Gluggafoss ( isl. Gluggi = "window", foss = "waterfall") because the upper step can only be seen like behind a window. About 250 m to the west the Þórðara falls over the Þórðarfoss .
