action

Barcelona in 1921 . When a train is attacked, the guards are shot by strangers and the cargo is stolen. Only the machinist can escape. The police then tried to find those responsible and received support from agent Aníbal Uriarte, who was sent to them from Madrid . The quartet uses brutal methods and does not even shy away from murder. They interrogate the machinist , whom they suspect to have something to do with the matter, and then murder him.

Meanwhile, in the center of the city there are many protests against the unjust treatment of workers and women who are violently suppressed by the police. There are dead. A seedy bar owner appears to be involved in the criminal machinations. It soon turns out that the corrupt police officers are on his payroll. An attack was carried out on them in broad daylight, which ended mildly for them.

The trail leads Uriarte to a group of radical anarchists who instigate a war against police arbitrariness and cause panic and chaos in the city . Caught between the fronts of the mafia and the union - represented by a certain Salvador Ortiz and his feminist daughter Sara - the agent is doing everything possible to find a compromise to prevent a possible coup by the military - and thus further massacres - before a civil war breaks out.

Prices

The film was nominated in six categories at the 33rd Goya Awards and won three prizes - for the camera, the editing and the costumes.
