Mermaids - Mermaids in Danger (OT: The3Tails Movie: A Mermaid Adventure ) is an American film for children and young people from 2015. The adventure film is based on a YouTube series about three young people who are actually mermaids . The three actresses are known on YouTube as The3Tails .

During the school holidays, three friends Emily, Selena and Jackie notice that they are being followed. Back at school, they find that their arch enemy Sam is now visiting their class. When Emily communicates with the fish during a visit to the aquarium, Sam slowly discovers the secret. She drugged the three friends and dragged them onto a boat. There she takes a sample from Emily's tail fin. Shortly afterwards, the friends break free, but are discovered. Jackie finally escapes and alerts the authorities. The trail leads to the house of a rich man who wants to use the mermaid serum to save his paraplegic daughter. The three friends do not reveal anything out of pity. Only Sam has to answer to the authorities for the kidnapping.

The siblings Natasha and Sofia Garretón and Marlena Lerner run the YouTube channel The3Tails. This is a series format about three friends who are mermaids and were even able to hide their secret from their parents. With around 50,000 fans (57,000 at the moment) the format was so successful from those responsible that they turned it into a direct-to-DVD film. Directed by Andrés Garretón, the father of the two main actors. It was co-directed by Meredith Scott Lynn.
