Maggie Wheeler (* 7. August 1961 in New York City , New York as Maggie Jakobson ) is an American actress . She became known as a supporting actress in various sitcoms .

Career

Rumor has it that Maggie Wheeler auditioned for the role of Monica Geller in the later hit series Friends in 1993 , but this was denied by her. However, she played the recurring character Janice, a parody of Fran Drescher . At the beginning of the first season, Chandler's friend appears - for often insane reasons - at least once in each of the ten seasons as a surprise guest. The nasal voice with which she became known in this role does not correspond to her normal speaking voice.

In the sitcom Ellen , she played one of the main characters, Anita, a close friend of the protagonist, in the first season. In the middle of the first season, Anita disappears from the series without any explanation, which means that Maggie Wheeler left the series.

She auditioned for the role of Debra Barone on the sitcom Everyone Loves Raymond in the mid-1990s . Despite being the producer's favorite, the CBS television network decided that Patricia Heaton should get the role. Nevertheless, Wheeler appeared repeatedly in the series as Debra's friend Linda.

Maggie Wheeler has made guest appearances on many other television series, including Seinfeld , a sitcom, The X-Files and Emergency Room . In 2005, she starred opposite David DeLuise in the pilot episode of the NBC production The Sperm Donor . In Barbie in Swan Lake , she gave Odile her voice in the original English version.

Private

Maggie Wheeler had a relationship with the X-Files actor David Duchovny before he married Téa Leoni . In 2013 she appeared in 5 episodes of the series Californication , in which Duchovny played the leading role.
