JLS (for Jack the Lad Swing ) was a four-piece British R&B / Pop band.
Band history
The band came into being when Oritsé Williams, who had previously made various attempts in the music business, started looking for other singers after leaving school. He met Marvin Humes, who had been successful with the R&B band VS in 2004/05 . He in turn knew Aston Merrygold and together they founded the band UFO (Unique-Famous-Outrageous). Together they wanted to compete on the casting show The X Factor . When applying, they met Jonathan Gill, who also wanted to compete and then joined the band.
In 2007 they won the Urban Music Awards for the best artist without a record deal. In the following year they were then renamed JLS participants in The X Factor. After a changeable course in which they only barely survived the seventh round as the penultimate, they increased towards the end and finally came in second behind Alexandra Burke in December 2008 .
Then they were signed by Epic and went on tour with Lemar , among others . Her debut single Beat Again was released on July 13, 2009.
In 2013 they announced their dissolution. In November 2013, Billion Lights was released as the band's last single, and a greatest hits album was released.
