Merten friezes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Merten Friese († after 1639 ) was an organ builder who worked in Danzig and the Duchy of Prussia .

Life

Merten Friese was probably a son or descendant of Julius Anthoni Friese , who worked as an organ builder in Danzig until 1584. It was mentioned in Danzig from 1616 to 1629, then in the Duchy of Prussia.

It is unclear whether an organ in Grodno, Poland, was also made by him, a similar disposition characteristic as with Julius Anthoni Friese and shows him in their sphere of activity.

Organ brochures by Merten Friese have been preserved in the Trinity Church and St. Mary's Church in Gdansk .
