Meryl Cassie

Meryl Danielle Cassie (born April 2, 1984 in George , Cape Province, South Africa ) is a New Zealand actress and singer with African and German roots. She is known for her portrayal of Ebony in the futuristic cult series The Tribe , which has a die-hard fan base in Germany. She has also appeared in Xena , Hercules , the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street and the Revelations series , which was produced by the same production company as The Tribe.

Cassie spent the first three years of her life in South Africa, but due to apartheid she emigrated with her family to New Zealand . At the age of five she already knew that she wanted to be an actress and began to act in theater performances. Her first experience in front of the camera was in What Now ?!, a New Zealand children's show.

Meryl Cassie is the youngest of four children and already has two nieces and three nephews. She is the sister of the New Zealand singer Megan Alatini , who became known through pop stars . Her brother Miquille is a musician and lawyer, while her other sister Monique occasionally acts and sings. In New Zealand, her showbiz family is best known for their flashy hairstyles - almost all of their female relatives wear braids , and their mother owns a hair salon chain.

Cassie became a mother for the first time on September 16, 2006. The father of her son Rylon is her then partner Brendan Watt, a rugby player from New Zealand.
