Mesetiah is a Finnish death and thrash metal band from Kokkola that was formed in 2008.

history

The band was founded in early 2008 and consisted of bassist Marko Rintala, guitarist Toni Olkkola and drummer Kimi Rintala. The first rehearsals began in February 2008. Toni's brother Juha then joined the group as a drummer, whereupon Kimi Rintala switched to the electric guitar. Lassi Rintala took over the bass, as a result of which Marko Rintala became the singer. In March a rehearsal room was set up with Marko Rintala, which was finished two months later. For the rest of the year the group wrote new songs while looking for a band name. In early 2009 a demo with the two songs Rejection Of Belief and Waiting for Execution was recorded in Studio 3rd Track . Shortly thereafter, a name was found in Mesetiah. The demo was then sent out so that the band could take part in a competition in May 2009, the winner of which could play at the 2009 Kokkola Rock Festival . Mesetiah won the final of the competition, making her first appearance at the festival. Since then, the band created the term Denzo Crew, which they use to describe all supporters, friends and fans. In the same year, the debut album The Purpose of Our Existence was released via 3rd Track Productions . The second album A Force to Recognize in 2011 and the EP Tesis in 2014 followed on from the same label . The second album was also released in 2011 on Inverse Records .

style

Craig Hartranft of dangerdog.com wrote in his review of The Purpose of Our Existence that it was Death Metal based on Thrash Metal from the early to mid-1980s. The music is direct and aggressive, with the lyrics being grim, nihilistic , self- and god-hating. Colin McNamara from metal-observer.com stated in the review of A Force to Recognize that the album features simple Death Metal, which is based on the classic style of playing of the 1990s. The deep vocals are reminiscent of Incantation , while the groove sounds like Six Feet Under . The speed of the songs is variable, but mostly in the medium speed range and groove-oriented. Thematically, the album deals with topics such as gore and death, which suggests a comparison to Cannibal Corpse . For Eckart Maronde from Metal.de , Tesis was a mixture of death and thrash metal. The band used “deep grunt” thrash metal riffs and breaks .
