Atakhama is a Finnish death metal band from Jyväskylä , which was founded in 2004 under the name Funeris Nocturnum .

history

The band was formed in April 2004 by guitarist Simo Rahikainen, bassist Matti Honkonen, drummer Timo Häkkinen and guitarist Jaakko-Ville "JV" Hintikka after they had dissolved their previous band Funeris Nocturnum . Throughout the summer, spring and fall, the group worked on songs made up of both new and older material from the Funeris Nocturnum era. At this point, this new version of the band had taken the name Funeris Nocturnum. In August the singer Jimmy Salmi completed the line-up. After the band signed a record deal with the Finnish label Woodcut Records , they went into the studio to record their debut album. Existence Indifferent was from September to November 2004, within three weeks in the workshop studio of Sami Kokko recorded and mixed. The recording time in the studio for the album was booked back then with the old Funeris Nocturnum line-up. In December Atakhama was chosen as the band name. The album was released in April 2005. The following year Hintikka left the group, whereupon the four of them continued.

style

Pete Pardo from seaoftranquility.org assigned Existence Indifferent to Death Metal, which is straightforward, technically somewhat demanding and aggressive. Characteristic are twin guitar harmonies, "clubbing" riffs , blastbeats and growling . As a comparison he gave Behemoth , Decapitated , Bloodbath , Morbid Angel , Vader and Zyklon . PoT from stormbringer-metal.de wrote in his album review that Death Metal can be heard on this one. Here stood triplets -Passagen and blast beats alternately while singing variable and - be without an accent - atypical for a Finnish band. He also heard influences from Atheist , Nile and Death .
