Cacodaemon was a Finnish black and death metal band from Kuopio that was formed in 1996 and disbanded in 2007.

history

The band was founded in late 1996 by the guitarist and drummer Crucitatus and the singer and bassist Johan aka Moribundus. The first song recordings were made in 1999, but they were not officially published. In February 2000 the first demo Black Death Metal was recorded. It was released the same year, including a cover version of VONs Veadtuck . After the release, Obscurus took over the bass. In the summer of the same year, the debut album Fullmoon Ritual was recorded, which was released in 2001 as a compact cassette after some delay . The delay was due to the fact that the master tape was lost and also had to be re-mastered in order to be able to publish it on CD . The album includes a cover version of Mortuary Drapes Primordial . With the new drummer Necrophiliac Bonegrinder, the band soon began rehearsing new songs, which were recorded as the EP Morbid Winds of Destruction at the end of 2001 . The release was initially planned as a 7 ″ single , but Crucitatus and Moribundus decided against it, so that it was available in 2002 as a compact cassette, of which only 60 copies were made. After the recordings, Wicked Ischanius joined as a second guitarist. In 2002 the album The Demoniac Invocation was recorded by Mr. Donner. After the label Infernal Waves Records , about which the release was originally planned, went bankrupt, the album was released on DUKE Records and Exh Goëtie Records in November 2004 in Europe and the USA with a circulation of 500 pieces.

In 2004 the band started playing concerts: the first gig was with De Lirium's Order , Scorngrain and Darkwoods My Betrothed , which was also the last with Wicked Ischanius. Tobias Hellraiser from Proud to be Loud helped out in later appearances with Malicious Death, Urn , Hellspirit and Nailgunner . At the end of 2005, the album Tales of Demoncy was recorded in three sessions before it was released in 2007. On November 3rd, the band broke up and Crucitatus formed Lantern .

style

Jim from putrefactiveeffectzine.blogspot.de wrote in his review of The Demoniac Invocation that it was a raw mixture of Black and Death Metal. Above all, the 1980s standards were used. They are less oriented towards Beherit or Bathory , but rather towards Hellhammer , Celtic Frost and Possessed . Occasionally, influences from the 1990s from groups such as Autopsy and Pungent Stench could be identified. In contrast to its predecessor, the album sounds more organized and less like a test recording. The singing is deep and guttural . The songs would be very similar, although they were strongly influenced by darkness and occultism .
