The Mesochora Reservoir ( Greek Τεχνητή Λίμνη Μεσοχώρας Techniti Limni Mesochoras ) is a large dam in Greece. It was built between 1996 and 2001, but has not yet been commissioned due to approval difficulties. The commissioning of the hydropower plant was planned for 2010, but has not yet been carried out (as of May 2014).

The dam is named after the nearby town of Mesochora .

The dam is a rubble dam with a concrete seal on the water side. The reservoir has a total volume of 625 million cubic meters. The figure of 228 million m³ probably relates to the usable space. The hydropower plant , which is about 13 km downstream near the town of Kapsala and operated by DEI , has two Francis turbines with an output of 2 times 81  MW . They were delivered by Koncar from Croatia.

The dam is part of the hydropower expansion of the Acheloos , one of the largest rivers in Greece. Other components are the Sykia Dam with a 17.4 km long transition to Thessaloniki , the Mouzaki Dam with a 135 m high dam and the Pyli Dam with a 90 m high dam.

After all work relating to the Acheloos-Thessaly project was suspended in 2010, the Greek State Council decided in January 2014 not to pursue the irrigation project any further. Nature and bird conservationists celebrated the award as a decisive turning point in the fight for the water of the Acheloos and direct the focus of their work on the renaturation of the resulting environmental damage. The DEI seeks a solution to the Mesochora dam to project from the closed irrigation. The aim is an assessment of the dam that is independent of the overall project, which results in an operational release.
